About the Position: 

 

The Shippensburg Area School District Board of School Directors announces a vacancy for the position of Superintendent of Schools and is commencing a search for a highly qualified and forward-focused individual to fill this key position.   

The Board is seeking a dynamic and well-rounded educational leader with excellent communication skills; a proven track record of improved student achievement; collaborative relationships with faculty, parents, and community; fiscal leadership; understanding of and commitment to the district; a focus on all students as well as a passion for their welfare; a strong sense of integrity and consistently provides visionary leadership.  The new superintendent will exemplify the District’s Mission: to prepare all students to be productive citizens who: Possess knowledge; Accept responsibility; Demonstrate problem-solving skills; and Succeed within a dynamic global society. The successful candidate will collaborate in building a learning organization that strives to achieve its Mission.  Central office experience is preferred. 

 

 

About the District: 

 

The Shippensburg Area School District enrollment boundary encompasses both Cumberland and Franklin Counties. The district is one of twenty-two school districts throughout Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and York counties that make up the Capital Area Intermediate Unit (IU 15). The Shippensburg community is a vibrant southcentral PA community that includes Shippensburg University, a highly acclaimed institution that is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The district encompasses the Boroughs of Shippensburg, Newburg and Orrstown along with the townships of Hopewell, Shippensburg, and Southampton.  The 121 square mile district educates approximately 3425 students in grades Kindergarten through grade twelve in four elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.  The district is socially and economically diverse with a population of more than 30,000 citizens.  The Board has a proposed budget of $58,594,139 for the 2022-23 school year.

Initial application may be made by submitting a Letter of Interest, a current educational vitae’, credentials (letter of eligibility, certification), and three (3) current (within 1 year) letters of reference.  Applicants who are contacted for interviews will be expected to complete an application, to provide current Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances, to provide college transcripts and to comply with school district policies.
