What is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst is a graduate level practitioner that is certified in applied behavior analysis. BCBA’s conduct comprehensive assessments that lead to the creation and implementation of evidence based, individualized strategies and plans to shape behavior. The goal is to teach students the social skills and replacement behaviors through reinforcement to foster learning and growth. BCBA’s are held to ethical standards that ensure services provided place priority in preserving the dignity and well-being of each individual student.
Shippensburg Area School District utilizes two BCBA’s that service students across all buildings and grade levels.
Mrs. Andy Bream is a Master of Special Education with extensive background knowledge in shaping behavior within the classroom environment and IDEA.
Mrs. Nicole Showers began her career as a speech-language pathologist before she became a BCBA. Her primary areas of interest include using positive reinforcement principles to teach replacement behaviors and functional communication skills to learners.
In addition to serving students, Andy and Nicole perform staff trainings, are certified Safety Care trainers, and are a continuous support to classrooms and teachers. You’re sure to see them around!
