The NSLP was designed to provide the nation’s school age children with healthy, nutritious school lunches regardless of household income. Under the NSLP, a household may qualify for benefits which entitle school age children in the household to receive school lunch at no cost or at a reduced price.
Households can apply for free or reduced price meals benefits on-line at www.paschoolmeals.com or by paper application. Paper applications can be obtained at school offices upon request. Only one application per family should be completed, regardless of the number of children in a household or how many different schools with-in the district the children attend. Filling out more than one application per household slows down the review process for the household.
Benefit eligibility continues from the previous year for the first 30 school days or until a new application is received and processed. If lunch benefits were received the previous year and no new application is received by the Food Service Office prior to the 30th school day, benefits will cease. Any charges incurred after day 30 is the student household’s responsibility, regardless of past eligibility.
Questions regarding the Free & Reduced application process, status of an application, or eligibility determination should be directed to the SASD Food Service Office at 717-530-2722.
