- Every resident or inhabitant in any school district, upon attaining eighteen years of age, and every person eighteen years of age or over becoming a resident or inhabitant in any school district, shall, within twelve months after the happening thereof, notify the proper assessors of his becoming of age or becoming a resident or inhabitant. Any person failing, within said period, to notify the assessors of the school district within which he resides, shall, in addition to the tax levied by such school district, be liable to such school district in a penal sum equal to such tax.
- Failure to receive the tax notice does not relieve taxpayers from their responsibility to pay the taxes due.

At the June 16, 2021 Board Meeting, the Shippensburg Area Board of Directors approved the following millage rates:
Cumberland County Real Estate Tax- 12.0731 mills
Franklin County Real Estate Tax– 96.5498 mills
Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion Amount is $154.92
Per Capita Tax (679) is $5.00
Per Capita Tax (511) is $5.00
Real Estate and Per Capita bills are dated July 1, 2021
2% Discount payable: July 1 – August 31, 2021
Face payable: September 1 – October 31, 2021
10% Penalty payable: November 1 – December 31, 2021

Delinquent Tax Information:
- Per Capita taxes not paid in full by the December 31 due date will be referred to a third party collection agency, which is currently GH Harris Associates, Inc.
- Real Estate taxes not paid by the December 31 due date will be referred to Cumberland County or Franklin County Tax Claim.
